    Hi,
I have a VISA appointment in Vancouver, CA for stamping my US H1 B visa.
I was wondering if anyone has gotten there H1 B stamped from Vancouver lately. I want to know if they hold on your passport for a day and return it to you next day or do they return it on same day?
I need to plan on my return trip. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

I have an I-485 that will be current soon, but I am not employed. If they approve it, will that be considered a mistake and make it invalid? Should I withdraw it? Will a letter explaining the situation be sufficient? I have another application as a dependent, just takes longer.
Are you serious? Wait until your date become current and until then do not do anything. Instead of looking for ways to withdraw your I-485, why dont you look for ways to find a job that matches your I-140 skills, so that you can use AC21 portability.
You will never know when will you get your chance to file 485 again if you withdrew it.

It's hard not to watch in amazement as protesters from across Iran are managing to get videos and pictures out to the world of their fight for liberty despite the fact that most journalists are barred from reporting. They are using communications technology as their weapon against the regime and the camera phone has been at the center of it all. Two years ago I honored Philippe Kahn on this site as my immigrant of the day. Kahn, a French immigrant to the US, invented the camera phone in 1997 so that he could take pictures of his new child...

This issue has gotten media attention not due "new born sympathy" towards immigrants but due to Hispanic politics played by Democrats since hispanics happen to be the majority in the citizenship waitlist!!!

Suddenly, they raise this issue while there are thousands of applications rotting for years. They always see only one side of the coin!!

Program is the name of your main application's class itself. What I am doing is creating an instance of my application and using the two methods that live inside that class.

Veto Signals Start of a Risky Political Game (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/06/23/AR2007062300051.html) By Jeffrey H. Birnbaum, June 24, 2007

George W. Bush has been the most accommodating of presidents. He has rarely used his veto pen to kill legislation. Until now.

Last week, Bush vetoed a bill that would have expanded federally funded embryonic stem-cell research. He said scientific advances allow researchers to pursue lifesaving work without destroying human embryos. It was his third veto ever.

But there will soon be more. Lots more, and almost every one of them will have an impact on the markets and business growth.

Bush has attacked the opposition party for "excessive spending" and has vowed to veto many of Congress's 12 appropriations bills, which are on track to exceed his wishes by $23 billion in the next fiscal year.

In response, some Democrats have said they can play that game, too. A faction thinks the last thing they should do is let pass almost any legislative initiative Bush and his party can claim credit for, including the immigration and energy bills Congress is working on.

These confrontations are shortsighted no matter who's to blame. A budget impasse would depress markets and weaken the dollar. Failure of the immigration bill would threaten businesses that hire illegal immigrants with increased sanctions or compel them to hire fewer people, either of which would lead to higher prices. And energy shortages could easily become chronic unless more is done to reduce our reliance on high-price oil.

Shallow political finger-pointing is not an adequate response.

My application reached on July 17th but still no receipts received. Called USCIS saying its already 90 days. They took my data and gave me a referal number and asked me to call back after 1 month again... :(

In a post last summer ("The Immigration Singularity"), I accused the Department of State (DOS) of hoodwinking the Office of Management and Budget by getting OMB to approve use of a new, all-purpose nonimmigrant visa application form, the DS-160, without submitting the form itself for review under the Paperwork Reduction Act: In my view, State snookered OMB in approving the release of the DS-160 under the Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA) without providing the public with access to a complete copy of the form and all the questions posed. The purpose of the PRA is to reduce the burden of completing...

There is no special form to apply for AC21. It's a free form letter informing the USCIS that you would like to port your I-140 to a different employer.
