Heres the sliver lining of all this immigration mess. Its good for spiritual development. I came here 10 years ago in mid 20s. My understanding of Indian philosophy was rudimentary at best. Now I have found reading and meditating on the meaning of Gita is one of the best ways for me to deal with the GC mess, and life in general. So I wonder if GC had been a smooth process would I have still discovered the beauty of the Gita?

Been on various visas including F1 (grad and undergrad) and H1.
Didn't get to file GC till 2007 unfortunately...
Oh Man! You should be in your 40s now....And you are still waiting for GC. You must be knowing this. You will have to wait for 15+ years more for your DMAN GC!! By that you may have been retired.

DMV California doesn't need proof of residence....it will ask for I-94 or Greencard to check your legal status....as for residence, it will only ask for your address and will not ask for any proof...

She voted NO on this amendment DESPITE the indian lobby contributing to her campaign. Also its likely that she might become our next president.
Obviously, Sen.Obama does not care much for Indians!

A Total I-485 Applicants: 750000 Applicants
B Each EAD processing time: 5 Minutes
C Total processing hrs: 62500 Hours
(Calculations: AxB/60)
D Daily productive Hours: 5 Hours
(It is a government body!)
E Total Man Days (Business Days): 12500 Man Days
(Calculations: C/D)
F EAD Workforce: 30 People
G Total Business Days: 417 Days
(Calculations: E/F)
H Average Business Days in a month: 21 Days
I Total Clearing Time : 20 Months

Yep thats true , as of now all this shouldnt stop one from filing 140/485 what ever it is , we are only trying to interpret to the best of our knowledge in current format. For ex. if you remember labor substitution bill was introduced in Last year 2006 and every one was eager and curious about it but it was only enacted in July 2007. Similarly i 100% believe they will give some time to switch and in case it would be good enough buffer. If you think u can file dont even think of rest , right what is law is what should it be.

Recapture is actually a non controvertial issue and most politicians support it in private. The business lobby was sucessful in getting it done (btw the democrats opposed it even then). These days we have the sword of 'amnesty' hanging over everything related to immigration plus the positions are so polarized that it is impossible to get anything done. The lame duck presidency isnt helping either, each congressman/senator has to worry about its own agenda and their people.
With the internet every little bit of information is distributed immediately and the opposing forces can easly create noise to drown it...that in a nutshell is why nothing is working for us.
As mpadapa mentions people satisfied with EAD/AP think that life is good and dont want to help. When people wait in EB3 for 7-8 years and renew EAD/AP for 4-5 times like i have, they will understand. Untill then we hope and pray and call

This bill is purely on the theory of Common man vs politician
What is a politician?
Politician is a contaminated breed of Human species. Here's the difference.
When a common man see the problem, he tries to make a resolution and tries to make a permanent solution helping everyone.
Now what does a politician do.. he see a problem and think how can he pretend to get a resolution while trying to make use of the problem for his political advantage hurting everyone and even hurting who were not effected by that problem and then use the same cycle to resolve the residual problems of the so called "solution" for his gains.. and this goes on and on and on.
Moreover the worst part of the story is no matter where you go in this world, you will find this weed growing everywhere and there is no weed control chemicals to kill them and surprisingly common man is a fertilizer to grow it.

But again you dont 'have' to be working while on EAD (as you are an adjustee) and they decide based on the original company's ability to pay. You can work even for/by yourself (self-employed)
